Ten Pound Elephant

Bio

Ten Pound Elephant was born in 2006 with the vision of creating an innovative blend of funk, jazz, and soul-influenced music with outstanding vocals, strong rhythms, and tight melodies that pull the audience out of the seats and onto the dance floor. Today, the Denver-based group of seasoned, eclectic musicians have honed in on a sound that pulls from bands like Galactic, Soulive, and The Meters, and adds elements of classic soul and spoken word.

The outfit is a frequent performer at venues throughout Denver, Boulder, and mountain communities. This group, consisting of Ebony "Isis" Booth (Vocals), Jeff Settle (guitar), Tom Marsh (Keys), Kevin Neimond (bass), and Jimmie Dean (drums), has found success in the live setting by performing compositions with captivating vocals, catchy melodies, and head-bobbing grooves that keep crowds entertained, energized, and engaged.

"What can you say about a band that starts off sounding like the Brand New Heavies and ends its set sounding like Faith No More? The members of Ten Pound Elephant showed incredible range, with diverse sounds and notable stage presence, delivering a set that deftly blended the kind of sounds you would expect from an R&B outfit: rap, funk and retro soul with a lot of the unexpected, especially their hardcore closer, which literally could have been a Faith No More B-side. The set was too exciting and far-reaching to attempt to classify."
