RICHARD STEINBACH, PIANIST

Pianist Richard Steinbach performed his solo debut recital at Carnegie Hall in New York in June 2015. Steinbachs Carnegie Hall debut featured the premiere of his seventh CD titled FUSION: New Music for a New Age and was the culminating event for the international Fusion Project that Steinbach launched in 2013. Dr. Steinbach made his second appearance at Carnegie Hall in June 2019 with violinist, Eric Grossman of The Julliard School. Steinbach has performed extensively as both soloist and collaborative artist in concerts throughout the United States, Canada, France, Italy, Great Britain, South America (Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru), Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, New Zealand, Australia, India, Malaysia, South Korea, Japan and The Peoples Republic of China. As the grand prizewinner in the France Piano International Competition, he performed his solo debut recital at the Salle Cortot in Paris in January 1996.
Throughout his career, Steinbach has established himself as an extraordinarily versatile artist whose insightful interpretations of contemporary music have been widely acclaimed. The Gazetta del Mezzogiorno (Bari, Italy) stated that Steinbachs performance exhibited sonorous expressivity, consummate clarity and insightful sensitivity Richard Steinbachs past performances have included collaborations with such prestigious international artists as violinist Charles Castleman, cellist Nathaniel Rosen, flautists Michel Bellavance, Philippa Davies and Martha Councell-Vargas, conductor Xian Zhang and pianist Emanuele Arciuli.
Steinbach served as Professor of Music at Briar Cliff University for much of his career and he is currently the Executive Director of the Sioux City Symphony. Steinbach holds degrees in piano performance from the University of Colorado, the Eastman School of Music, and the Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Iowa. Post-doctoral work includes study and master classes with Dominique Merlet, Noel Lee, Roy Howat, Pascal Devoyon, Dorothy Taubman Edna Golandsky and John Bloomfield. www.RichardSteinbachPiano.com
