Nymark and Dryden

Bio

Two childhood friends who started writing music together in mid-August 2011, Nymark and Dryden are two electronic music artists who deploy a massive range of writing skills within their tracks. They can call on classical theory but just as well rely on feeling.

Hitting the ground running, they managed to get their first track 'Collider' played to the nation on Amazing Radio/Beats after only two weeks of writing together. DJ/Host Mark Ryan stating the track was 'Something special' and 'You have to hear it to believe it.' They followed that up with another 10 national broadacasts. Including being invited in to the Amazing Radio studios and being interviewed as featured artists.

They played their first gig together on 28th December 2011 in their hometown, which garnered a response beyond all expectations with almost 100 people through the door. Not bad for a first gig(!) - (Not content with only playing gigs promoters put on, they've taken the initiative and put on five of their own showcases since, one which had over 150 people in attendance.)

Both are DJ's with over a decade each of experience and after the response of the debut showcase looked to the Newcastle trance scene for their next venture.

Initially being booked in to play a producers set for Native supporting the trance phenomenon Activa in February, the support they brought and their infectious passion for the music and the scene meant they were instantly re-booked for the following month to support DJ legend John Kelly. Then after only six months of gigging together they were offered (and duly accepted) the Native residency.

Theyve spent the last 18 months at Native drawing on their previous experience as DJs and refining their skills as a duo by taking on all the different roles that a resident may undertake, from opening the room up with progressive breaks to closing it down with the hammers. They are from the old breed of DJs that understand the flow of a night as a whole and can adapt to fit in anywhere on any lineup.

As a result, they have had the honour to play alongside such names as Simon Patterson, Lange, Alex M.O.R.P.H, Sean Tyas, Jordan Suckley, Indecent Noise, Solarstone, Claudia Cazacu, Bryan Kearney, Greg Downey and Manuel Le Saux to name but a few.

On a production front, they write and engineer everything themselves, this may be the long way round in comparison to many in the scene, but they both feel there is an integrity in dedicating yourself to understanding all the aspects that reside in the artform of creating music. Theyve spent two years learning their craft and the fruits are now starting to show.

The first single they released was Colours on Defcon Recordings. The original being supported by Aly & Fila on their FSOE radio show while also making it to number 6 in the TrackItDown top 100 hundred trance tracks. The Amir Hussain pres Kozac remix was played twice on ASOT by five time World #1 DJ Armin van Buuren as well as a whole host of other big names.

At the time of writing, they are just waiting on their next release dropping- the Exosphere EP once again on imitable Defcon Recordings.

With many other tracks in the pipeline, and with the engineering techniques creeping towards the cutting-edge standard with each new release, the future is looking bright for the music that is in store from these two guys from the North East of England.

Theyre just about to start a monthly radio show called Inner Horizons, where they will be joining artists like Photographer, Gareth Weston and TrancEye on the tranceradio.fm roster.

To amass the support slots of some of the trance scene's biggest talents on the gigging circuit as Nymark and Dryden - as well as developing their sound from warm up progressive to peak time trance as they rise up the line ups that they play, there is only one direction these two are moving.

Currently looking for bookings for further afield to bring their accomplished warm ups or their full on peak time sets, they are looking to spread the word that there is a couple of new names ready to take on the scene.
