Bio
Download PDFCurious glammy glitterphile with a gypsy heart, Jodi has been fascinated with hobos and vagabonds for a long while. When she picked up the art of dance at a wee tender age, her passion was imbedded. Now, as an award winning and international performer, she has turned that passion into studies of Contemporary Fusion and Cabaret belly dance, Modern, Jazz and Hip Hop dance, Burlesque, Fire, Butoh and Theatrical Performance. Her dance artistry encompasses a fusion of all of these. She is also a good eater and likes cats and stripes.
Jodi performs regularly with the burlesque variety show voted one of the top 10 in the world by the Travel Channel, the Hubba Hubba Revue (Oakland, SF) as part of the vaudeville duo Room For Cream, with her burlesque troupe Jellyfish Kiss, and as a solo performer. Jodi currently performs with Egyptian Cabaret/fusion troupe Joweh, and collaborates with contemporary fusion artist Ariellah and her troupe, Deshret Dance Company. She has been a fire dancer for 8 years, and prefers to use static tools (fire eating, breathing, collapsible fans) so that the fire becomes a part of the dance instead of merely the spectacle. Jodi has placed for the past two years in the Breakthrough Fusion Competition in San Francisco, placing first in 2010 and placing second this year, 2011.
Jodi is honored to be a part of the upcoming DVD, "Bellydance Unbound". She will showcase the piece that she placed second with in the Breakthrough Fusion Competition this year, and instead of using a studio setting, we will be filming on location, using the location as part of the dance. The proof of concept video for the project that was filmed in October 2010 can be found here

As well as performing at restaurants and events as a solo artist, Jodi does theatre and dance with various local bands. She is part of a Klown rock opera in SF called Roccopura, (http://www.roccopura.com/) and is a part of an all female Klown troupe called the Sisters of Honk. Room For Cream is also often a live music and dance collaboration, that ranges in styles from burlesque to bellydance to clowning, and takes liberties in mixing it all together. This summer she is embarking on a 6 month state-wide tour with Rose Harden and the Lifesize Mousetrap. She has had the privilege to share the stage and perform alongside of Zoe Jakes and Beats Antique, Vagabond Opera, Elizabeth Strong, Crystal Silmi, and Ariellah to name a notable few. Jodi has participated in the Philadelphia Fringe Festival, Lollapallooza 2011, and in various circus/vaudeville events around the US.
Jodi produces and MC's a variety show in Sonoma County, Ca, called Risk-A Cabaret. She has owned and directed her own dance studio, where she taught all age ranges and different styles of dance. Jodi continues to teach workshops locally and at bellydance festivals in theatrical bellydance, core integration, and burlesque. She traveled to Guatemala City with Joweh! in 2010 to perform and teach as the featured Tribal Fusion dancer. Jodi has recently started exploring the world of Butoh dance, and finds that it has really helped with her creative process and the way she emotes on stage.
Jodi is available for many types of performance opportunities, ranging from modern fusion bellydance, vaudeville shennanigans with live accordion, or a darker, butoh influenced performance, to straight forward Tribal Fusion or Cabaret bellydance. She can create a perfect performance for any event!
